Intermodal and urban transport logistics
The course "Intermodal and urban transport logistics" teaches the basics of transport logistics systems. The introduction includes an explanation of the modes and carriers of transport, their performance profiles, turnover points and underlying business systems. Building on this, topics such as I&C systems in traffic, safety in international transport chains, new fulfilment concepts and electric mobility will be discussed.
The focus of the event is to impart basic knowledge and problem-solving skills for transport logistics issues in the form of case studies. The case study is a real problem from practice, which is incorporated into teaching through cooperation partners in the field of logistics. It deepens current topics such as port and airport logistics, rail transport, urban transport, combined transport and the influence of progressive digitalisation. The students work on the case study in groups and present their solution in the course. The lecturer of the course is Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Straube, supported by scientific staff of the logistics department.
