Fundamentals of Logistics

The Fundamentals of Logistics course imparts fundamental knowledge about the tasks, contents and challenges in logistics in one semester. At the same time, current trends and developments in logistics are addressed and discussed using case studies.

Logistics uses knowledge from the fields of business administration, material flow technology, production technology, transport and information technology. This overarching approach as well as the process orientation of logistics will be dealt with in this course.

The focus is on logistics management and logistics technologies as well as, in particular, on the methodology for planning and designing logistics systems and the teaching of the technical and methodological competences required for this. The main topics include innovative, smart and digital logistics system components and information technologies as well as the fundamentals of classic logistics elements.

The course aims both to prepare students for more advanced courses in the Master's degree programme in logistics and to impart application-oriented specialist knowledge for the everyday professional life of Bachelor's graduates.

Learning Objectives

The aim is to convey an understanding of the design tasks in logistics and at the same time to learn about the dependencies and interdependencies with other corporate functions.

In addition, the design of logistics systems and the required information systems are taught.

Current Information

  • Dear students, the number of participants is limited to 60 and registration will be open from Oct. 6, 2013 at 8 a.m. to Oct. 26, 2013 at 6 p.m. through the ISIS course.
  • The module "Fundamentals of Logistics" is offered regularly in the winter semester and can be completed in one semester.
  • To participate in the course, registration via QISPOS, MOSES or the examination office is required. In addition, registration in the associated ISIS course (see above) is required.
  • Documents and current information will be communicated via the ISIS course. You will receive the password for the course in the info session.
  • The course is limited to 60 students.
