Module Integrated Logistics systems

Current notice: As the module Retail Logistics I is being revised (see here), the module Integrated Logistics Systems will no longer be offered from winter semester 2022/23. Existing module registrations who have already passed Transport Logistics I and only need Retail Logistics I, please contact .


Successful participation in the Integrated Logistics Systems module requires two of the following courses:

Production Logistics Part 1, Retail Logistics I and Transport Logistics

The event Production Logistics deals with aspects of internal production logistics. The focus is on production and assembly systems, performance measurement of production processes, layout planning as well as operative production control and ergonomics. The integration of sales and production as well as the topic of process improvement will be dealt with. An excursion to a manufacturing company will illustrate how to deal with the topics learned in a practice-oriented manner.

In addition to an introduction to the basics of retailing, its types and forms of business, the course Retail Logistics I offers further topics such as convergence in retail and the consumer goods industry, supply chains in retail, collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment, efficient consumer response as well as procurement and distribution concepts. Supply chains in the retail and consumer goods industries will be designed on the basis of case studies and current issues from the retail sector will be discussed. The transport logistics seminar deepens questions in an overarching area. Students can write seminar papers on selected topics.

The course Transport Logistics conveys the basics of traffic logistics systems. First, the edges and nodes of the systems under consideration are shown as an overview at macro level. Following this introduction, the transport modes road, rail, water and air are systematically considered with regard to their specific characteristics and requirements, and handling concepts and the container and loading equipment used are presented. In order to do justice to the practical relevance, the students take part in in-depth case studies.
