Within the framework of the working group of the Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL) e.V. (German Logistics Association), the topic of environmental and resource efficiency in logistics in the context of international commodity chains was examined together with logistics experts from approx. 20 well-known companies in the sectors of industry, trade and logistics services. The following topics were defined as focal points of the working group, which were designed and developed together with the participants in a total of 5 workshops.

  • Drivers and stakeholders of environmental protection and resource conservation in logistics
  • Measurement and evaluation
  • Approaches, measures and best practices
  • Communication of environmental and resource efficiency in logistics

In addition to the logistics experts and the team of the Logistics Division, numerous speakers from the service sector, consulting and politics were involved in the content design of the workshops and enriched them with their know-how. The kick-off workshop took place on 27 February 2009 at the Technical University of Berlin. The results of the workshop were presented at the Logistics Forum Duisburg 2010 of the German Logistics Association. A publication of the results of the working group in the series Wirtschaft & Logistik of the Bundesvereinigung Logistik e.V. is currently being prepared. Stefan Borkowski is the contact person for the working group at the Chair of Logistics Services and Transport.
