Distribut(e) - Green Neighbourhood Supply Chains for the City of Tomorrow
Projecthomepage - https://www.distribut-e.de/
The aim of the Distribute research project is to develop a neighbourhood logistics system that overcomes the "last mile" in a sustainable yet efficient way.
Project Content
Motivation
The challenges of logistics are growing every day. Deliveries should not only be fast, but also flexible. Due to the trend of decentralised distribution in the city, the "last mile" has become much more important.
Content and aim of the project
The Distribut(e) research project aims to develop and test new business and delivery models for local logistics service providers to meet this challenge. A special focus here is on sustainability. To this end, shared e-logistics is being set up at Klausenerplatz and on Mierendorff Island in Berlin. Low-threshold service offers from Urban Design Thinking are to be integrated for this purpose. IT systems are needed to support the tasks of ordering local goods, managing scheduled and special deliveries and organising regular tours. The goals of Distribut(e) are:
- Increasing efficiency on the "last mile
- Reducing local delivery traffic and its emissions
- Promotion of local production chains
- Activation of local actors (especially SMEs)
- Identifying new sharing and value-in-use concepts
- Increasing the quality of life in neighbourhoods
The Chair of Logistics of the TU Berlin focuses on the development of components of neighbourhood logistics and formats of co-creation for sustainable neighbourhood logistics in the sense of urban design thinking.
