Ko-RFID: Efficient Collaboration in RFID-based Value Networks

Ko-RFID stand for "Effiziente Kollaboration in RFID-gestützten Wertschöpfungsnetzen".

In the dynamic environment of global corporate networks, Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) is seen as having great potential. Despite great expectations, most application areas still lack economic business cases and cross-company applications. This is due to the high implementation costs of the new technology and the isolated consideration of individual application areas. The focus of Ko-RFID is the holistic investigation of RFID-supported collaboration processes in value-added networks, taking into account technological, economic and socio-economic aspects. The interplay of technology and management is the focus of research at the Chair of Logistics at the TU Berlin under the direction of Prof. Straube. In cooperation with the partners, the influence of the introduction of cross-company RFID applications on the role of logistics service providers will be examined in addition to innovative control concepts such as Supply Chain Event Management (SCEM) and Supply Chain Performance Management (SCPM). By incorporating recommendations for action and reference models into ongoing standardisation efforts, the aim is to make it easier for small and medium-sized enterprises in particular to get started with RFID technology. Based on a holistic value-oriented cost and benefit analysis, concepts for RFID-supported SCPM and SCEM systems are to be developed and tested prototypically under real conditions at the application partners DaimlerChrysler, Gerry Weber and Wellmann. In the course of the prototypical realisation, the positive and negative influencing factors of an RFID implementation are to be identified with the aim of identifying best practices.
