Next ARCLoS Conference will take place on March 29th, 2023.

Research visit at the KNUST in Kumasi, Ghana

On February 2023, the team of the Competence Center visited its new partner KNUST in Kumasi to discuss current research opportunities within the launching of the new project of the chair of logistics “ASONG”. During this visit, the team exchanged ideas and insights with the Vice-Chancellor, the Director of the International Programs Office, the Provost, and many other colleagues involved in promoting excellence in research and teaching.

Workshop “Digitalization in African Logistics Networks” in Ethiopia

On December 2nd, 2022, the projects ILNET and IPLogE organized a workshop on the implementation of digital technologies in the logistics sector in Addis Ababa. Together with over 40 active members in the Ethiopian industry we discussed the role of digital technologies in the design of efficient communication strategies between logistics network partners. These insights are needed to incentivize the progress of digitalization in the East African region and recognize possible fields for leapfrogging.

Conference “Logistics in Practice – Empowering East Africa through innovative logistics solutions” in Ethiopia

On December 1st, 2022, Dr.-Ing. Benjamin Nitsche, Manager of the Competence Center, presented the new insights on the challenges and opportunities of Logistics in African countries resulting from the year-long research in collaboration with the African university partners of the Chair of Logistics. Furthermore, the conference brought together students and representatives from international and local companies such as Bolloré, Safaricom, Ethiopian Airlines, and Kubik to discuss about innovative sustainable solutions for the logistics sector in East Africa. Additionally, the GIZ presented its cooperation forms with local companies to promote the development of the African economy.

Workshop “African Continental Free Trade Area and the Role of Logistics” in Rwanda

On September 7th, 2022, ILNET; its partner GIZ; and SUDLogER jointly organized a workshop to identify current logistics challenges of the AfCFTA across industries and to systematically discuss which potentials arise for the redesign of international logistics networks for the respective industries. The insights obtained from the discussions with over 30 participants of the industry, government, civil society, and other stakeholder will serve to develop logistics strategies to leverage the identified potential of the AfCFTA in the long term.
